Room 2's first blog together 2014

Room 2 has been working on expectations for the year. We had expecations for Miss J, For ourselves and for our classmates. Some of them are – C 3 B 4 me, we expect Miss J to be organised and on time and to be helpful to each other. Our expectations are on the wall for everyone to see.

We have been making our own class treaty. We have come up with 13 things we will do in our lives both school, home or anywhere. This will make us feel happy and safe. We all signed it today.

Our small art project is called helping hands. We had to think of something that represents us and draw it into our hands. This shows who we are and that we are a class that is always helpful to each other.

Camp 2014

On the 20th of February 2014, all the year 5 classes, AKA room 5, room 2 and room 1,did our camp. The day started at school as we got our belongings into our classes and getting onto the bus, which was transporting us to one of New Zealand's most popular beaches,Piha. We spent most the time at  the SLSC (Surf Life Saving Club) learning about things like how to be sun safe, rips and currents, ext ext. We enjoyed some of the time we had at the beach doing three different activities, Fun swim, Life saving and getting taught the basics. We all wanted to stay at Piha, but we sadly couldn't, so we started the trip back. My personal favourite part of the trip back was also the most hilarious part, (i thought) was when three hats fell out the window.
After about one pretty short hour, we arrived at school so we brought our belongings from the classes to the hall, which was followed by a head count. Most people being relieved to hear this, we soon after had some free time, followed by an explaining of how to play a game called capture the orbbz ( as Mr M liked to call it). the teachers then herded us into the hall to put up all the pup tents.Dinner time crept up fast and so we all munched away at our fish or sausage and chips. soon came a quite popular game... SCREAM RUN! it was when we all ran while screaming in groups of four, but once your scream ran out, you had to stop running, followed by capture the orbbz. capture the orbs is basically capture the flags, but with balls. more free time followed before we got ready to go to bed. we all chatted for a while and then soon drifted off to sleep. in the morning what happened was just, for a starter, getting changed and ready, and then cereal and fruit for a refreshing breakfast. even MORE free time came along soon before we packed up the tents. A normal school day followed, except for the fact that we didn't do much learning, or that's what happened in my class anyway.
